Wey Valley Flydressers

About

We meet every other Tuesday at the Lower Bourne Social Club in Lower Bourne - just outside Farnham.

The Club began 25 years ago as a result of a night school class on Fly Tying and Fly Fishing at RAF Odiham.   Some members remain from that original night school class and remember paying 50 pence a pint and having to use a foot pump rigged up to a beer keg.  The club was formed back in 1989 after the inaugural meeting in the backroom of the Windmill Pub in Ewshot. Donald Downes from the National Guild attended and the club was affiliated to the Flydressers Guild.  The club was originally the Farnborough and Fleet branch but the name was later changed to be the Wey Valley branch.

Over the years there have been many members who have learned to tie flies and fish together.   Guest speakers and demonstrators are regular events and the branch have several excellent fly-tyers who demonstrate and mentor other members. The purpose of the club is create an environment where people of all abilities from absolute novice to experienced can meet regularly and learn how to dress a fly in a friendly social atmosphere. New members are always welcome. Please come along and give it a try - it is always  good to catch a trout on one of your own tied flies!
